THE PRESENT IS ALL THAT WE HAVE
Most Indians migrate to the far corners of the earth in pursuit of a dream, a dream that they feel they cannot realize in India. To achieve this dream Indians will make great sacrifices, take big risks.
Sometimes this adventure to far off lands, this chasing of dreams ends in tragedy as Esha found at great cost .
Esha is a talented , hardworking and intelligent middle class girl. She married Rajat who was equally bright. They chased their dreams of a fine affluent life by leaving India for an opportunity in South Africa.
Once there they worked hard, saved every penny , even made personal sacrifices to do that. Not many in India may be aware that once abroad many Indians are so obsessed with saving money that sometimes they even neglect their own and their kid’s health. They deny themselves the simple joys of life to save money for a distant future.
Esha and Rajat desperately saved money to buy a bungalow in New Delhi where their aged parents could stay. Rajat’s brother and family moved in with the parents in order to look after them. Rajat then bought an apartment in New Delhi as an investment that also produced a monthly return when they rented it out.
Years later , their nest egg full, Esha and Rajat and kid returned to New Delhi dreaming of a wonderful life with loved ones in the warmth of India –but they were in for a shock.
Rajat’s brother refused to move out. Then the tenant refused to hand over possession of the apartment. They had to rent an apartment.
This was not the end. Rajat was diagnosed with cancer and their son declared suffering from leukemia. Not one of their relatives came forward to help them. Esha now runs from hospital to hospital all alone.
Was it worth it –this moving to distant lands, this sacrifice for a distant future?
These are questions man has asked since time immemorial. I feel that the answers are also known all the while—live in the present. Remember the POWER OF NOW ?

”The present is all that we have” is really very much disappointing. We, the human being, may or may not be successful in our venture but a miserable end is, by all means, most unwanted and ever disheartening. The only consolation is not the solution. Unfortunately, what else can we do!
Again, it is difficult to say what could have been the correct steps Esha and Rajat should have measured to avoid such a mistake in life. They believed and betrayed. One deprives but finds no derivative to fulfill one’s desire. Ultimately loser finds someone a gainer and the gainer in the long run seems to be bewildered amidst crime and sin.
Mysterious are the ways of providence. We can, in no way, escape.
